I'm back at school!!

 Kia ora guys!

So as you all know we are back at school and I'm very happy about it. I still do online learning but only on some days we don't go to school. I go to school on Mondays and I'm sure its Tuesdays. Everything has been going great and I love swimming down at the pool! it is so fun. Our temporary teacher who is Mrs Butler is amazing and she lets us do lots of fun stuff which I am very happy with!

We did planting, we got to choose our seeds! They were either sunflower seeds or bean seeds. The sunflowers are not to big and tall. I planted a sunflower seed because they are beautiful and I have not seen one in ages although I used to have one in my backyard which was really big and beautiful!

A few days ago she had this GIANT bubble wand. The wand part is a stick and you can add 2 more sticks to it if you wanna make it longer. The bubble making part was a giant rope. Everyone got a turn, the bubbles were not as you expected, they are GIANT but not round like normal bubbles, they are wobbly and some can be long and shaped funny which are really cool!

I prefer to be at school then do online learning! My first few days were not good and I was a bit nervous but everything is going great! None of my friends came to school so I played with people I know that are my friends but we don't see each other much. I made lots of friends but I still miss my normal friends and it's sometime boring without Josie and Koleka. But other than that I am happy!

I wish I had photos of the gardening and bubbles, they are so cool and you would love to see them but maybe next time! Bye bloggers!!

My morphed animal story!

Hey bloggers! Today I will be sharing my morphed animal story plan! In writing for the whole week we have been planning a story using animals but their body, legs, head are different! Anyways, let me show u my story and let me know I the comments if my story is good or what I can do to fix something!

Here are my photos of my morphed animal that were used for my story! a kangaroo giraffe, a giraffe rhino and a scary zebra giraffe.     That is the giraffe squirrel down here.

                                         Here is the kangaroo zebra

and the scary giraffe zebra.

Anyways! Let's get on with my story!

There once was a kangaroo zebra that had a long tail and floppy ears. He was friends with a giraffe squirrel that had a very short body but a long neck. One day it was hot and dry and the animals could not find a watering hole so, they split up to find a watering hole. After hours of searching they found a watering hole until they saw a scary zebra giraffe. “May me and my friend share your watering hole?”. “No way!”, said the zebra giraffe”, “What! Why? It's so big you can’t have it all for yourself!” said the kangaroo zebra”. He went back to his friend to tell him what happened. When the friend heard the story he came up with a plan! “I have an idea! It will make him share his watering hole!” said the squirrel giraffe. They grabbed as much food as they can and put in in a pile under their tree. The zebra giraffe set off to find food as he was hungry after drinking water. He looked and looked until he saw the kangaroo zebra and the giraffe squirrel eating a bunch of food. He licked his lips and walked towards them saying “may I share your food stack?” “Hm! No you can’t!” said the kangaroo zebra. “Why?” “because you won’t share your watering hole! “FINE! I’ll share it” “Yay!” said the animals as they all lived as friends.

Hoped you guys liked my story! See you next time bloggers!!

My fable story plan!

 My Fable Story Plan!

Kia ora bloggers! On week 4, term 1 for writing we have to make our own fable story, I am going to share my plan on this blog! It takes place at an old mine, the main characters are the Dog, the farmer and the farmers wife.

Basically the old man was a farmer who farmed in the dirt for old crystal chunks but one day he decided to go hunting for old crystals near and old mine but when he got there he turned around and saw gold! He ran up to the gold and whispered to himself, IM GOING TO BE RICH It was getting dark so the farmer went home. Have you got the bread? Said the old wife. The old farmer forgot all about selling the diamonds for money to get bread.

In the morning he saw went to the old mine but then he saw some miners coming to search for gold but then he started screaming and shouting for help outside the mine. The miners came running to him saying WHAT WHATS THE MATTER?! The old farmer joked and told them to come tomorrow because its closed. The miners went home and the old man did it over and over and over again each day until his wife noticed something suspicious.

She followed him and discovered the old mine snd new exactly his plan, she invited the miners while the old man was at work to tell them the plan. They crept out behind the mine and started hammering it trying to make it collapse until it rumbled. The old man was panicked as it started to collapse one of the miners grabbed him and shoved him on the dirt. When they got home he explained to everyone why he wanted the mine to himself. The moral of the story is don't be selfish instead share and treasure what you have

Im trying to figure out a way to make this into a short story so I will keep you guys updated soon! Thanks for reading my plan and tell me do you think its a good fable story? Let me know!

 What Is A Fable?

A fable is a short story that teaches you what to do and what not to do.  Animals are illustrated in most fable stories. Fables are a good thing because they teach you the moral of the story which makes you do good things rather than bad. Fables can help people to be nicer because of what happened in a story.

There is also a youtube channel called Kids Hut Family and that has a lot of fable stories and it tells the moral at the end. Here are some really good fable story book covers.

My lockdown Highlights

Hello Bloggers!

As you may have already read my previous blog posts about lockdown you may already know that I do not like lockdowns because it is so boring most of the times. However the tasks I did for my school work keep me busy from being bored. I did some projects which I really enjoyed and they have been put together in a slideshow the teachers created. It's called Lockdown Highlights. You can check out my Lockdown Highlights slideshow below.

My Friends Birthday!

 My friend's birthday!

On Thursday 14th October My Best friend Josie had a birthday party! We had the birthday at the Blockhouse Bay beach reserve. My dad drove me to the shops and I got her a big box of chocolate, Then we drove to the beach where the party was held. We got there early until a few minutes later we saw my friend! The parking was small and there were not a lot of parking left so it was hard to find one. Then my dad drove away and then we found a spot to put the mat and chairs down to sit at. My friends sister invited her friend too.

Me and Josie ran down the the playground then we say two swings empty and we swung on it for a while, A few minutes later we ran to the sand near the picnic and then we decided to make a castle with water flowing around it and sand castles in the middle, we started to build and dig until we got to the water part and has to put water around it but it did not work because the water drained in the sand. We thought of putting shells underneath to make the water not drain but it didn't work

Here is a picture of our sand castle >   >    >    >

Eventually we gave up and decided to build a giant hole in the sand. She didn't know how to build one so I told her we had to make a circle and how big we wanted it and then started digging. Then we started digging the middle. We went to get water from the water fountain and dunked it in. It did not work but we dug more and water came out from no where! There was so many water we tried to take it out but it filled our buckets so we had to leave the water in there.

After a long time of digging we had finished! Here is another picture of our hole! >     >     >

After our hole we were bored so we came to the table and wiped our hands with baby wipes and then sat down. There were chips, carrots and some kind of thick food thingy you can dip your carrots in.

We ate for a while and then we went back to our hole. Josie's sister Rael and her friend Maddison went on a walk near the park further down. Me and Josie decided to go with them!

We walked down and down until we saw then and we came running towards them. When we got down we realised it was muddy and it was very slippery. We walked down further until we split up and looked around. Maddison shouted Me and Josie's name and told us to come here. We saw some kind of dark grey squishy mud thing on a giant sponge! It wasn't a sea sponge just a giant rectangle sponge covered in mud.

We carried on walking then me and Josie went to a rocky area and picked up rocks to see who could throw them the furtherest. Then we kept on walking until Maddison and Rael called our names and shouted us to come. There were little crabs! under rocks! Luckily we brought the blue bucket to put them in. Maddison and Rael grabbed some shells and picked them up to put it in the bucket.

We decided to go find more crabs then we pushed some rocks and there were lots of them! After about half an hour of searching we found many crabs and decided to go back to the place for Josie's birthday. We got there and cleaned our hands. We sung happy birthday to Josie and she blew out the candle. Then we ate some delicious cupcakes! And has some snacks. We got to play a bit more until my dad came to pick me up. I fed the birds and pigeons chips. I got a goodie bag and then I had to go. The end!

My learning in lockdown.

Kia ora! This blog is what learned during lockdown and how it has been so far. As you all know the school holidays is here! I am so excited about that since I don't like doing much online school.

Everything is still the same and we still have zoom meeting. The teachers put up a picture that has a link on it and the link leads to a site called code avengers. Code avengers is really fun and I absolutely enjoy doing the activities on there. It fun and teaches you in a very easy way which is why I enjoy it a lot.

It has been a long time in lockdown and I am forgot how it feels with a whole day outside because I only go out in my back yard to take my dog outside so he can run around and exercise. Doing school work is like a normal day now until we can go back to school.

To be honest, I actually miss school a bit because I hate lockdown so much because I can't go to the ice cream store, the bubble tea store, and more food stores I like which is a shame. I will see you guys in my next blog post! See you later!

My planting project!

My planting project!

Kia ora bloggers! during lockdown I did a planting project. What made me do planting? well, my mum has lots of seeds she saves from fruits and vegetables that we like and then we plant them. In this blog post I am going to show you how I planted them!

First of all my mum. got some chilli, kaffir lime, and papaya seeds that she saved from those fruits. My mum went out to the front yard to get a new bag of soil to plant out seeds in. When we got inside she opened the bag of soil. My mum saves a lot of jelly cups and old egg cartons so that we can use then for when she needs to plant seeds in. I had 2 large egg cartons and 7 jelly cups. We had to heat up a nail and make some holes so that the water could drain at the bottom of the jelly cup.

I put on my gardening gloves and used a jelly cup to put soil into another jelly cup one at a time. After the jelly cups I got to add some soil to the egg cartons and then spread it out. We did not fill the cups and cartons way to the top because we needed to put some soil on top after the seeds were planted. Soon, then we started sprinkling some seeds on the egg cartons and put some more seeds in the jelly cup.

We put 2 seeds in some jelly cups and 3 in the other jelly cups then we put the soil over it. We also put soil over the egg cartons and gently tapped it on top to make sure it was all set and ready to be watered. Our small laundry is a hot place so we put the egg cartons and jelly cups in there.

I had to go down the the garage to get my watering can, about 3 minutes later I finally found it because it was hard to look for. Then my mum filled it up with water and then I got to water the soil. I will keep you updated on when the seeds start to sprout! See you next time bloggers!

What I enjoyed about learning in lockdown.

Kia ora again bloggers! In this post I am going to share about what I have enjoyed about learning in lockdown. Nothing has changed yet and everything is fine at the moment.

What I enjoyed, I enjoyed  learning a little bit in lockdown because I don't need to do all kind's of work I can just write a blog post, reading writing, maths and some other activities for the morning not the whole day which is what I mostly enjoy about learning in lockdown.

What I don't enjoy, I really hate sitting in my chair and doing some work because I don't like sitting in one place for a long time but at least I get to learn about marine reserves because we are going on a trip to goat island! I can't wait to go to goat island again and also go to Mangawhai which will be really cool! I am super excited for that.

Anyways bloggers, I don't have anything much to write about so I will see you later! bye bloggers.

How to make a stretchy cheese toast!

Kia ora! and again with another post! Everything is going good and nothing has changed yet. I have been very bored so I have played some games with my pup, and taking him out for walks. I am going to share some of the food I made with my mum this morning for breakfast!

Today I made a stretchy cheese and onion toast! that is very stretchy when you bite into it! its so good and tasty and I am going to share the recipe with you.

Recipe: bread, onion, butter, cheddar and mozzarella cheese.

How to make the meal: First, chop up some onion into small pieces, slice some mozzarella and cheddar cheese, put all three into small seperate bowls for later.

Then, get two piece of bread. Spread butter on one slice of bread and place it on the grill (buttered side should be placed on the outside) and add  chopped onion, cheddar and mozzarella cheese we prepared. Then butter your other piece of bread and place on top as shown in the second photo below.

One tip I would like to explain is to put the cheese right in the middle before grilling so that it doesn't overflow when it's melted and spread evenly.

Here are some photo's of my stretchy toast:

Updates on lockdown!

Kia ora! welcome back to another blog post. Things have been going good and we still have zoom meetings and have to do some work. In my last post I said I would keep you guys updated so here I am updating about whats happening.

Is lockdown still going? yes it is, the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that Auckland will be extended lockdown for another week! isn't that just crazy! That means the school still has to do more zoom meetings and work. Guess what, before the lockdown, I was looking forward to the long weekend because of teachers only days on Friday this week and Monday next week.

How I feel, I feel alright about it. I still feel a bit sad about lockdown because I miss going swimming at Cameron pools, doing fun things at school, and doing work with my friends. I still am happy because I don't get to do school work for the whole day and spending time with my pup, playing games with my sister, helping my mum cook which is one of my favourite things to do when I am bored.

So, I will still keep you all updated if anything happens again! Thanks for reading my post. I will see you next time bloggers!

Online learning! lockdown

Kia ora bloggers and welcome back with another post! but this time the learning is at home again due to a case of covid! which is why we are in lockdown at the moment. The senior classes have been having zoom meetings. The meeting are about half an hour long.

How I feel about lockdown, I feel happy and sad, happy first! I am happy because I get to stay home and not do school work for the whole day and also play with my pup, but sad because I miss being with my friends and doing fun stuff at school. Zoom meetings, I used to HATE zoom meetings because I didn't like sitting in my chair for half an hour and listening to a few voices but its okay now.

Learning, learning is okay for me a bit, the subject I absolutely hate is probably maths, I hate doing all the adding and subtracting its just so hard for me which is one of the things I am still learning. Writing and reading for me isn't a problem especially reading because I love making DLO'sI think it is also a great opportunity for people to learn how to do things at home and keep them busy if they are bored or need something to do.

So bloggers that is all I have to share, I will let you know on another blog post if anything changes like having to go into lockdown for more that just a week or if the days reduce to shorter days, anyways that's all, I will keep you updated soon! see you next time bloggers!

Olympic learning

 Olympic learning!

This term the senior syndicate have been focusing on the Olympics, we also got to watch lots of Olympic games while eating lunch, studying about the Olympics. We watched plenty of kayaking races and rowing races, The teachers printed a medal tally for how many medals New Zealand won, we have got little circles on the chart and we color them in every time we win a gold, silver or bronze medal.

Here is a photo of how the medal tally looks like > > > > >
After we colour it in we write the game that we won in small writing on top of the circle we coloured, like rowing and stuff like that. We have also been super duper busy! because we have to write blog posts, finish off our DLO's we have been making, it is just crazy! anyways bloggers that might be all for this post! thanks for reading this blog post! see you next time bloggers!

Ancient games to Modern games to Present Olympic games!

Kia ora bloggers, this term, the senior syndicate have been learning about.. Olympic games! we have been very busy this term because of the students making dioramas and posters, DLO's and more. In this blog you will see my DLO. There are 3 different choices, you have to stick to the focus question you are choosing. The questions are... 'how have the Ancient games changed to the modern games to the present day games, what is happening for NZ at the Tokyo Olympics, and what makes up the important features of the summer Olympic games.

You can also make google drawing posters, google slide shows and stuff like that for our DLO. The focus question I have chosen is, Ancient to Modern the Present games. I have also chosen to make a google slide show for my DLO. I have one slide of Ancient games with lots of information on it, I have one slide of Modern games and one Present day games and one last slide with some interesting Olympic facts.

My favorite part, my favorite part is doing my DLO, it's adding not just facts but finding cool things while finding some interesting facts, and fun things that make people interested. I think this learning is a great opportunity to let people learn about new sports, it is so fun to also blog about this because it is sharing your learning, making people interested and wanting to try out these things. It is also a good opportunity to let other people try new things.

Here is my DLO.

Procedural writing

Procedural writing!

Kia ora bloggers! A few weeks ago Te Waka Ako was doing procedural writing about a cultural game they had to write about in steps on how to play. First we had to write our game on this sheet on our Chromebooks that looks like this> > >

Then we had to write out materials we needed in the box that says ( Materials and equipment) you have to write the equipment you need for your game then you write your goal in the box that says goal, something like this- goal: make your stick go the furthest that the others and stuff like that. The  in the four rectangular boxes you write on how to play your game step by step.

I am going to be teaching you how to play a game called Human knot, first, you need 6 or more players, then form a circle and join hands all together, started twisting and moving into different places until your circle is a tangled knot, but remember do not remove hands you have to keep your hands together at all times. Secondly, start moving one by one until your human knot it starting to form into a circle again.  thirdly, If you let go of each others hands you are out of the game and the person who was holding your hand need to join hand again. Fourthly, Once your human circle is into a circle you can play over and over again. I really hoped you enjoyed reading this and giving this game a go. See you next time bloggers! Here are some photos on how it should look like!

Year 5 day!

Year 5 day!

Hello!, On 17th may 2021 the year 6's went on a school trip to spark arena. My sisters a year 6 and she got to go, I was upset that I didn't get to go but my sister told me the year 5's were doing something fun with McGrath, Then I was not that upset. Eventually the bell rang and the teachers called the year 6's to come to Manukau ( The yellow space). Finally the year 5's were called to Hauraki( The blue space). McGrath was sitting on the short moon table right it the middle with her grey apple laptop on the moon table,She was sitting on the chair. After everyone sat down on the mat she said good morning.

Soon she called out the roll. 70 seconds later McGrath was talking to us about the well being survey. She said something that wasn't part of the survey but us girls needed to know, After, she said something's about our hair, earrings, rings, necklace, bracelets, coffee and why us children can't drink because it had caffeine  it and yea stuff like that, So she said something about earrings first. She said that hoop earrings are a little dangerous at school because what if someone accidentally pulls it your earring can break and your bottom ear will be ripped off. Everyone was shocked and she said something about my earring, She said I was not getting told off but my gold hoop earring could get pulled off like her friend,

Her friend was playing netball and she had a hoop earring and a finger went in the earring and it pulled her ear and her bottom ear was damaged. She also said that we should tuck our necklaces in out shirt so someone dose not pull the necklaces or else we would choke. She told us it was going to be pink shirt day soon and she asked why is pink shirt day real? After one girl put her hand up and explained what pink shirt day is for. Eventually, we were going to make fortune tellers. People handed out white thin paper cardboard. There were no  more chairs so some people got up to get a table from the other class Waitemata( Green space) Then my friend grabbed me and herself a chair and put it at the table to sit.

Finally it was time to make the fortune tellers. First we had to fold it diagonally, Then we had to fold it diagonally again except on the other side. Then you unfold everything and fold it from the paper in half, Then you fold the paper in half again from the side, After you bring the corners to the middle and they will look like small triangles. Then you flip your paper to the back and get the flaps you folded and fold them to the back. Then fold your paper in half and put our 2 index fingers and 2 thumbs in the flaps and try to mould it into shape. We got to colour it in and play with it.

Then we were told to clean up and form a circle. McGrath was sitting on a chair and she said something nice about someone. Once you say something nice about someone you sit down and if you get a comment from someone else you have to say something nice about someone else and then sit down once you get a thank you from the person you said a nice comment to. You have to pick someone else. when I got picked I told something nice about someone and sat down. 30 minutes later we were finishing off our work. Me and my friends saw the year 6's coming back with bags. It was time to pack up for the day. WOW! what a cool day today I said walking out of the building. Here is a picture of my fortune teller I made.

Experiencing Anzac day under the strings

Tena Koutou, On Wednesday 14th April 2021, the teachers arranges a surprise. The surprise was a ANZAC surprise, also us students were not aloud to go into the senior building until the bell rang. Before the bell people started being sneaky and looking under the blinds and through the windows to find out what was going on but we didn't see much until.. RINGGGG! The bell rang but only one classroom had no string and that classroom was Manukau the yellow senior  classroom. The other two classrooms were closed so we only got into Manukau. everyone ran into Manukau because of the rain and people started whispering and mumbling to each-other about what was going on then the teachers yelled to be quiet, The students went quiet and the teachers had camouflage colours face paint that they put on their face, They had camou green, black, and brown colours  over their noses and they were all three teachers were wearing black. Black pants, shirts, jumpers and guess what the teachers had NURF GUNS! and were shooting the students and teachers shooting other teachers. They said they set up string every where and when I mean everywhere I mean EVERYWHERE. The whole two classrooms had string everywhere so we had to crawl under the string like they did in the army. The strings were tied to chairs, tables. seats. bookshelves, and there was no space we could walk only crawl under the string It was like this.

Some people thought the crawling was getting tired and hurting their knees and it really did but If you are going to do this I suggest you wear long pants so you don't feel your knees is pain, but the most important thing was we all had lots and lots of FUN!! But fun didn't stop us from still doing our work.. VERY BORING! BUT! we got to do out work under the strings so I guess it was a bit of fun. We did some Anzac work, The first thing the teachers told us to do was maths, maths was not Anzac work for us instead we had to do our basic facts test which was quite exciting because we got to do our basic facts test under the strings. One teacher played shooting sounds grenades sounds and bombing sounds on her speaker and that would distract us students from doing out work but we still had to carry on. After the timer was up we had to stop working and pass out sheets on to other people until it reaches the teachers. I also forgot to say that the teachers were also under the strings!
isn't that cool!

After our maths test we did this kind of Anzac worksheet that looked hard to do but it had thick stripes and it said, Vietnam war, Korean war and some other wars that I could not remember. The worksheet was hard to me but we had to plus the year to make another year and then write the answers down, When we finished our answers we had to add them all together. I finished writing my answer and crawled to the teacher and gave her my sheet. After a few more minutes The teacher said we had to give out sheets in, Then the bell rang for morning tea. Everyone crawled their way to the exit and gasped. Then I reached down to my bag got my morning tea and grabbed my hat then I waited for my friends. When my friends came out and got their stuff we walked for a while. (AFTER MORNING TEA) RINGG! The bell went and I put my stuff back into my bag and crawled back under the strings. Then the teachers gave out piles of papers with stuff on them and gave them to us. I grabbed one and passed them on. After everyone got a paper the teachers told us what to do and what we had to do was write a letter to our family on the paper we got but we didn't actually give it to our family it was just how it felt to write a letter in the trenches and was work. I started writing for about 2-3 minutes and my letter looked like this. Down here!

I waited for a long time and finished my letter then lunch came and the bell rang again RINGGG, everyone crawled their way to the door again. IT WAS LUNCH TIME SWIMM! Only one of my friends brought their togs. I grabbed my togs and lined up.

Fancy or freaky!

Hey bloggers,  In lock-down there was a fancy or freaky Friday. I don't remember the date but I do remember it was in lock-down. I had a syndicate meet which is where all the classrooms in the senior syndicate meet. I had white and reed face paint but I didn't know what to do with them when an idea popped up in my head. I used the face paint to paint my lips red and fangs on the side of my lips like a vampire and I painted my eyes like a 'V' shape and coloured it in. I didn't know what I was gonna be so I just called it the red vampire but I wasn't a vampire actually I was just doing random face paint.

It was time to go on the google meet so I squashed into a small gap where my chair was and I sat down. While I was getting on the google meet. I wanted breakfast so my mum came in and I stuffed my breakfast in my mouth and chomped it, swallowed it and went on my meet, and yes  was in a bit of a rush. When I joined I heard the teacher talking and sometimes my teacher mistakes me for another girl in my classroom whenever I  join the google meet which I find something I think the teacher needs to learn on, not being rude though. I had my phone under my desk and alerts kept on going off about the tsunami warning, OH! have you heard about the tsunami? Its scary right? One boy in another classroom but still in the seniors lived where the tsunami came so they had to evacuate which is why he didn't join the syndicate meet.

We waited for some other students to join and when all of them joined the teachers decided they had a game to play. So one of the teachers cased their screen. There was different things like red dice, a cork, pen, batteries, shell, a kind on plaque thing ( I called it a thing because people called it something else which I didn't know) scissors, and a few other things which I don't remember. How the game works is one object gets taken away and the first one to say what object got taken away in the chat wins a round. When the objects were gonna get taken away a black screen appeared just to cover what is gonna be missing so you don't see it moving away from the picture and know what it is straight away. The objects were gonna be put back in place.

Some people got most of the wins but I kept my eye on one with the chat open on the right side of my screen, Then the screen went black and what was missing I knew straight away when the blackness disappeared. It was the cork! I typed in the chat straight away 'Cork! and the teachers said 'that's Zara'  And I won a round. After a few minutes of playing we moved onto certificates. some people won a Duffy certificate when my name came up. I got a merit
certificate. I was happy and my pop peeked through my door and smiled at me because she was standing in the hallway listening if any of us got a certificate. A few minutes later the meet was about to end soon so I said goodbye and left. Bye bye bloggers! see you next time!

Lock-down diary

Lock-down Diary

Kia ora bloggers, I don't like lock-down it isn't fun but it is for our safety. My favourite activity was how Kiwi saved the forest. That activity was a cool story to read and that was the activity that took me a short time which is why I always do How Kiwi saved the forest for my first activity in lock-down. I wasn't happy when doing online classes because I just felt like it wasn't my job but I didn't have a choice because I need to learn so I can be smart. I like being at school sometimes because it is a lot of fun you can do there and you can learn in fun ways.
